There are so many people interested in selling their home as a short sale and many buyers are getting frustrated with the REO foreclosure market they are turning to short sales too. So I am starting a series on short sales, the first installment is what is a short sale? A short sale is when the lender agrees to allow you to sell a house for less than the mortgage amount. Video 40: Should you buy a house if your monthly payment is lower than your rent? Not necessarily. Just because your monthly payment is lower does not mean it is cheaper to own a home. Any repairs are your expense, so when the hot water heater or AC goes out, there is no calling the landlord. I personally would not buy a house without a 6-month total cost of living emergency fund, but that is just my cautious side. I know many people disagree with me and that is all this is, one opinion.
