Video 83: The new short sale program which I talked about when it was first released New short sale program will not work, is being promoted by NAR and other major groups as a savior to short sales. I have read many blogs by agents who have obviously read the press releases, but not the actual plan. You cannot blame agents for getting excited as it seems NAR and all the major news outlets did their stories off the press releases. Unless you want to read the 43 page plan, that is all you would have to go off of. I will go on the record and state after reading the 43 pages, this plan will do NOTHING to change the lives of 99% of those looking to do short sales. Agents who do not want to do short sales now (and I understand why they do not) should not be looking for this plan to change anything. Would love to hear your thoughts, you can leave a comment or e-mail me Dean Ouellette.

Finally! Someone with enough sense to call a spade a spade! I’ve been saying this for months! There is no way all banks can streamline the short sale process. There a multitude of reasons for this which I will be addressing on my blog this week. But if anyone is relying on NAR or the government to make short sales easier, they might as well as Santa for a unicorn for Christmas. Isn’t NAR the same organization that keeps telling us the economy is turning and it’s a “great time to buy?” Consumers need to be talking to agents who are actually working short sales successfully before they buy into any hype and propaganda about the short sale market.

Sarah, thanks for commenting. I think it is very important that people interested in the subject read the plan and understand it. It is great in theory, like most of the plans are, but it is the real world application where it fails miserably. I feel they are just putting these things out there to say “we did something.” basic feel good agenda. It upsets me that NAR and RE/MAX and others are promoting this like the saving grace for agents and short sales because agents who do not want to do short sales (and i will never blame an agent for not wanting to do one) are going to get in over their head thinking things are easier and it is only going to hurt the seller

I laughed when I read through the document and then saw agents suggesting this would solve all the short sale problems. Not even close and let’s face it with the MI on most loans 2nds are not losing money if the 1st forecloses. To many rumors and not enough facts floating around the market these days and unfortunately sellers are caught in the middle of most of it.

I read thru this breifly and I always am caution because people can write and try to do what they want, but until it actually happens, i am never sold. I was a hope of mine that it would make it easier, but until I finally have an easier transaction I take no ones words.
