Real Estate Question of the Day: How many houses do buyers look at on average before they purchase a house?
According to the National Association of Realtors, the average buyer looks at about 12 houses before they finally purchase a house. Over the last year, my average for a buyer is about 10 houses viewed before the buyer purchases a home.
Yesterday I went to a funeral of a family friend. Sharon died way too young, with a 12-year old son left behind. What does that have to do with how many houses should you look at? Actually everything!

It makes you realize what is really important. Spending time with your family and friends is what is really important. Not looking at 20-30-40 houses.
If you are spending time looking at 20 houses, you are looking at a lot of things that do not match what you are looking for. You are likely viewing a lot of homes that don’t match the exact criteria that you want in a house.
Spend some time with your real estate agent and figure out what is important to you in a house. Let your agent search for homes that match that criteria and really narrow down the search to the homes that match. Then you can spend more time looking at homes that you would want to live in and less wasting of your time that should be spent on more important things.
