Top 10 real estate posts of the day 11/20/2009

1) Non disclosure in real estate? “Really?” – I am right there with Nick on this one. How some people can ask to be exempted from the rules drives me crazy. I understand the bank owned foreclosures, but any other situation they should be required to fill out the disclosures.

2) Real estate videos, or if the trailer’s rockin’… – Amaretto has put together the three most interesting videos marking a house I have ever seen

3) Where does that large agent commission go? – Think your agent is making “to much” money on the sale of your house.  After you read the break down you will realize that large commission is not as large as you think.

4) Foreclosure alternatives: Fannie Mae’s Deed for Lease Program – Instead of rent to own, how about own to rent?

5) Cool new market data on the blog – I didn’t blow anything up – Kris does a good job implementing Zillow stats into her blog. Just one more thing for my long to-do list.

6) Realtor says short sales getting easier to do – Just because we are better educated, and more short sales are getting done does not mean it is getting quicker.

7) 8 reasons dogs shouldn’t sell real estate – Every now and then we in real estate just need a good laugh.

8 ) RPR Quiz: Is a real estate agent blog a consumer website? – Will you be able to use all this great RPR data on your agent website?  Interesting question, one I am sure a lot of vendors are hoping NO is the answer to.

9) Another 25%? Ouch, that’s going to leave a mark… – Could prices still be over inflated?

10) The report of RPR’s birth is an exaggeration – Another great overview.

Top 10 real estate posts of the day for 11/19/2009

2) No more drama and hype: Known facts on RPR – Still confused about the RPR? This post will lay out the facts of what it is better than any I have seen yet.

7) Seriously dude, learn to spell and write in paragraphs – This is why I spell check everything before I put it into MLS, because I am horrible at spelling. Another reason why video is so much easier.

8 ) The role of the real estate financial analysts – I am sure there are few the truly analytical types out there, this one is for you.

9) #NAR09 – San Diego – One more wrap-up of the NARDiego event, and only posting this one because it may be the most compete and informative overview I have seen on the event.

10) Virtual REBarcamp – What one agent thought of the event – Unfortunately I was unable to attend this REBarcamp virtually, but I had very much wanted to. After reading this post it looks like it was mostly a success and something to build off in the future. What I am hoping is in the future these become more advanced and separate themselves from the IRL barcamps which tend to be more for beginners.

1) Realtor Property Resource (RPR) & you – A call to action – It’s been a fun week in the real estate community thanks to RPR, this won’t be the last day it dominates the top posts. Here is a video from Greg Cooper asking for input.

2) In which I announce the death of RPR – Rob Hahn has been in the forefront of the RPR discussion for the past week and has been a must read. Here he talks about how RPR may never likely get off the ground if the MLS companies do not play ball.

Top real estate posts of the day for 11/11/2009

1) Real estate tip – Increase your price! Shhh – It’s a secret! – Is your house not being found by the online shoppers you may want? Could be because you need to raise your price $1 or $100. With today’s Internet shoppers this is great advice.

2) Capturing the hallway conversations at NAR – Interesting idea to follow this week. Will be a neat opportunity for us who may have the flu and won’t be able to make it without infecting others.

3) Planning business habits – Your next 90 days – It takes 28 days to form a habit and 60 days to see the results, what are you going to do that is habit forming to get those results in 90 days?

4) NAR National property data soup will not be shared with public – There still seem to be so many questions on the NPR. Should be a fun weekend in San Diego.

5) How much do real estate agents make? – I know you wanted to keep it in the closet and not let the general public know about the millions we agents make, but Jay lets it out of the bag.

6) The real estate paper storm and the IRS Form 4506-T – We have gone from one extreme to the other with loans, now you need to disclose everything and give lenders access to your tax records.

7) Reach out, connect, be careful and other worthless advice – Some really good advice on finishing the year strong and keeping it rolling.

8 ) Dave Ramsey tells you whether he’d use a real estate agent or not – Dave Ramsey, who is famous for doing everything he can to save a buck talks about how one thing he would not do is put something up as for sale by owner. If you are a seller, this is worth a listen.

9) A question: LPS, Marketing and RPR – Rob is starting a series of posts that ask questions about the RPR service.

10) Writer debut: NAR should require fraud prevention education – There is a lot of fraud going on with the first-time home buyer tax credit, are Realtors responsible for some of it?

Top 10 real estate posts of the day for 11/9/2009

1) RPR Madness! NAR unleashes national property database with Cyberhomes – Let the debate begin. A national style MLS with more bells and whistles. The first two posts here are worth reading in full, this first one is more of a neutral to glass half full take.

2) The coming civil war in real estate: The RPR saga begins – And now for the other side of the coin. Yes it is long, but worth the read for every real estate agent.

3) Why the extended homebuyer tax credit is a slap in the face – Is it a slap in the face to those who rushed to get a house before the credit expired? I am not in favor of the extension, but not for this logic. I don’t think anyone should be buying a house just to get a tax credit anyways. Changes in laws always happen and their is always someone effected like this.

4) NAR frequently asked questions homebuyer tax credit changes – Good list of some questions you may be getting soon or may have if you are a buyer.

5) Where do we stand? Extended buyer’s tax credit politics – Should we support something because it helps us personally even though it may hurt the country in the long run?

6) Twitter goodies widgets – The latest WordPress widget recommendation from Dave Smith.

7) 2010: A major test for commercial – Seems to be the theme of the month, watch out for commercial next year.

8 ) If you are infamous or invisible you are doomed! – What are you famous for? If it is the wrong thing you need to start working on changing it.

9) How to manage your leads more efficiently – So you have a new fancy website that is getting you lots of leads, now what?

10) San Diego real estate 1 of 10 cities improving by Forbes – So is your city on the list? Phoenix is!
