Where are all the HAFA defenders now?

Video 101: I have read at least 20-30 different agents who have been touting how great the HAFA program is on their blogs over the last few weeks. Last night I issued a challenge a couple times on Twitter to any of those agents or even to the National Association of Realtors, who are defending the program, to do a point – counter-point with me in a blog post. I do not see how anyone who read the pages on the new short sale program could defend it as good for banks or for the home owner. If you are true believe in HAFA, and they have to be out there because there have been plenty of blog posts, let me know. I would love to debate you on the merits or lack of merit in the 43 pages of garbage. Would love to hear your thoughts, you can leave a comment or e-mail me Dean Ouellette.

  1. Sorry Dean. You’ll have no debate with me. I also believe this is 43 pages of rubbish.

Hi Dean, while I am still studying the finer points of HAFA, I must say it does not feel like a slam dunk, but neither does it feel like “43 pages of rubbish.” HAFA falls in line with the HUD PFS program, which has been in service for years (albeit many changes), however it provides a much more substantial incentive to both the borrower and servicer than the PFS ever dreamed of doing. Upfront figures gives the homeowner and agent an opportunity to see if it is reasonable or not to pursue the program without wasting precious time, nobody says the homeowner has to sign it (or am I missing that part)?

One could argue that the PFS program has had little impact on the housing markets across the country, but it HAS HELPED thousands of homeowners avoid foreclosure by providing a road map, where none previously existed. I prefer the PFS to a conventional short sale for the mere fact I’m not subject to guesswork, although the PFS program has faults that I’m sure the HAFA program will mimick.

What would you suggest? I don’t agree with HAFA being marketed as a fix all, but it is a viable option for those who may need it.

    Regards,

    Adam Walter

No argument from me. I’m about to dump the designations and go back to just being good at what I do. Short sales aren’t rocket science and banks are probably more inclined to fly the bird in the face of government programs prior to bowing down and saying, yes we can…***vomit***
